Tv Series (2010 – present)
The ins and outs of a close and eccentric family, focusing on middle child Nina Proudman. Whilst this show is definitely not for everyone, Offsprings quirkiness and sometimes downright insane script will leave you laughing, raging and crying, sometimes simultaneously.
Whilst the possibility of Nina being clinically insane can’t help but enter your mind on occasion, you may also find yourself comforted knowing that even though you may play out conversations in your head as she does, or babble awkwardly during just about any social encounter, you (hopefully) have never been quite that erratic. The intrusive and sometimes infuriating family dynamic will also leave you feeling grateful for your own family, or finally happy to have someone to relate to.
I found the show somewhat of a roller coaster both emotionally and in its ability to hold my interest. Some seasons are certainly better than others, but if you like one you’ll be hooked to continue watching regardless. A great example of Australian television – the flashbacks, animations and fantasy sequences make a great show for anyone who loves things on the quirky side.
