‘Blade Runner 2049’ is a rare sequel that entirely stands up to the original, with stunning visuals and emotion that feels like home. Set thirty years after the original, blade runner K (Ryan Gosling) makes a discovery that could change society forever. The long running time of just under 3 hours may leave some hesitant, but the beautiful cinematography and visual effects will have you content throughout, and script slightly heartbroken by its end. You may guess the result with each new plot twist, but the amazing performances by all won’t have you minding. Gosling gives a striking performance of true emotion as if born to the role, and Ford is just as brilliant as he was 35 years back. With staggering noir visions into the dystopia future, this film is mesmerizing.
